10 Unique Airbnbs in Los Angeles

Unique Airbnbs in Los Angeles
Santa Monica Mountains Vintage Trailer Retreat

I’m so excited to share 10 of the most unique Airbnbs in Los Angeles because all of you loved the 10 Coolest Airbnbs in Joshua Tree from a few months ago! Since everyone seems to still be avoiding hotels (understandably), I know STR’s (short term rentals, aka AirBnb, AvantStay, etc.) have been extremely popular this past year. Without further ado, let me introduce you to 10 of the most unique Airbnbs in Los Angeles and surrounding areas!

Unique Airbnbs in Santa Monica
Santa Monica Mountains Vintage Trailer Retreat

Santa Monica Mountains Vintage Trailer Retreat | $111/night

I don’t know if this is just me but this vintage trailer in Santa Monica is the epitome of Los Angeles. By that, I mean the bright blues, the pops of yellow, the sparkling white and touches of florals with a surfboard. The trailer itself has a kitchenette, a super cute dining nook and a full size bed. The bathroom and shower are separate, along with a generous outdoor space to lounge. It’s located in the Santa Monica mountains so you’ll love being one with nature. This would be such a romantic and fun getaway for you and your partner.

The Black Carriage in Topanga

The Black Carriage | $210/night

I was completely mesmerized as I was browsing through listings to find you the most unique Airbnbs in Los Angeles. The details of the carriage is stunning and the entire rental is actually 2 of these beautifully decorated campers connected by an adorable bridge. One camper serves as a bedroom and living room, and the other as a bathroom including a vintage copper tub that you can relax in after a day of hiking!

Glamping In An Authentic Tipi in Topanga

Glamping In An Authentic Tipi in Topanga | $210/night

I’m channeling my inner Pocahontas (with Meeko and Percy of course) and can’t wait to stay at this authentic tipi in the Topanga Canyons! Nestled in nature and with a free bottle of wine (sign me up) upon arrival? Yes, please. The star-gazing will be a guaranteed wonderful time from this location! You can even bring your dog with you for a small fee. I especially love and appreciate a pet-friendly stay since we try to bring Oshie (our dog) everywhere we can when we travel within Los Angeles!

Unique Airbnbs in Los Angeles
ShangriLaLa Tiny House Mountaintop Getaway

ShangriLala Tiny House Mountaintop Getaway | $200/night

A few years ago, I stayed in a ‘tiny home’ up in Portland Oregon and fell in love with it. I love the idea of a compact home and you can experience that at this mountaintop getaway! Definitely a unique Airbnb in Los Angeles. Such a compact but cozy tiny home with the most adorable outdoor kitchenette! The outdoor, wooden shower and bath tub reminds me of Hakone, which is a town in Japan known for their hot-springs.

Unique Airbnbs in Los Angeles
Matilda Style Cottage

Matilda Style Cottage | $104/night

If you’re artsy, love plants and want to live out your dream of living in a charming cottage, the Matilda Style Cottage is for you! In fact, the owner calls it a place, “for people seeking a mostly organic place of retreat & healthy clean air. Due to the amount of wildlife that surrounds this adorable cottage, understandably no pets are allowed. I feel like relaxation and nature is a pattern here already – does this mean I need a dose of nature and a break? Maybe, but you probably do too! Take this as a sign to go ahead and book a trip for yourself. You deserve it!

Malibu Charming Guesthouse Airbnb
Malibu Charming Guesthouse

Malibu Charming Guesthouse | $194/night

This unique Airbnb in Los Angeles caught my eye because of this VIEW! How relaxing would your morning be if you could walk right out to this patio with a cup of warm coffee (or a mimosa because why not)? The actual guesthouse is, as they stated correctly, compact and charming. The decor is simple but they have everything you need in order to have a chill time away from the hustle and bustle of life.

Unique Airbnbs in Los Angeles
The Flying Pig Treehouse Oasis

The Flying Pig Treehouse Oasis | $191/night

This adorably named spot should definitely be a contender for your list of unique Airbnbs in Los Angeles! I would call this the ‘adult treehouse’ since yes, it’s a treehouse but it’s the most souped up treehouse I’ve ever seen. They have an ‘outdoor’ bathroom which really puts you in the playful, treehouse mood if you ask me. My favorite if I had to choose? The patio that makes you feel like you’re one with the trees.

Mini “Castle” at Magical Malibu Ranch
Mini “Castle” at Magical Malibu Ranch

Mini “Castle” at Magical Malibu Ranch | $215/night

Going right from Pocahontas to perhaps Rapunzel for this castle? Who doesn’t want to stay at a mini castle, am I right? Such a unique Airbnb in Malibu which of course, everyone knows is one of the most beautiful areas in Los Angeles. This castle is a 2 story, stone building that’s suitable for 2 people which sounds like a romantic getaway to me! They even have scenic trails within their property and a shared 11 acre area with 19 of their chickens, how fun is that?

Airstream Airbnb California
Airstream Nature Retreat

Airstream Nature Retreat | $146/night

Even though I’m not a camping kind of gal, I have to admit I’ve always wondered what it’s like to live in an airstream. Here’s my chance, I guess! This airstream is beautifully decorated inside and looks so cozy. Nestled in the Topanga Canyon, you’ll be surrounded by nature. Perfect for the quiet getaway while still being pretty close to the beach and city.

Downtown Los Angeles Airbnb
Luxurious Modern High Rise Apartment LA

Luxurious Modern High Rise Apartment LA | $144/night

Last but not least, a more modern take on Airbnbs located in DTLA. I may be a little biased since I personally live in downtown Los Angeles but I live here for a reason! I’m in love with the city life. This spot offers great rates in a beautiful building with modern, updated amenities. As a downtown resident, I can assure you that the location of this property is also ideal! You can even visit the Los Angeles Flower Market while you’re there, or enjoy the several brunch options (here’s Best Brunches in Downtown Los Angeles part 1 and Best Brunches in DTLA Part 2), or grab coffee (or multiple!) at one of these 11 coffee shops in DTLA. If you’re not from the city, you just might find this spot a unique stay from your day to day!
