1. Girl and the Goat

Address: 555-3 Mateo St, Los Angeles, CA 90013
Parking: Valet, Garage (Paid) or Street Parking

I hadn’t heard of Stephanie Izard until my friends raved about her, but I fell in love with Girl and the Goat immediately. The space is charming, filled with light and greenery, creating a cozy atmosphere perfect for impressing out-of-town guests. I used to be a brunch regular here—so much so that the staff would give us freebies! But sadly, they’ve cut back on the brunch menu, and it’s not what it used to be. So, while I no longer recommend brunch, the dinner menu still shines with unique and flavorful dishes. The cocktails are inventive, and it’s always a crowd-pleaser. Not on the list of Arts District Restaurants, but she also has a restaurant called Cabra (Peruvian) in DTLA that I also highly recommend!

2. Camellia

A beautifully plated dish from Camellia, a Japanese-French fusion restaurant in the Arts District, Los Angeles.

Address: 1850 Industrial St, Los Angeles, CA 90021
Parking: Valet or Street Parking

Camellia gave me one of the best meals I’ve had this year (it’s neck and neck with Kinjiro in Little Tokyo). This beautiful Japanese-French fusion restaurant, housed in the stunning former Church + State space, exceeded my already high expectations. Each dish blends French techniques with Japanese precision, and I honestly can’t pick a favorite. Whatever you do, don’t skip the desserts—they are unforgettable! Whether you’re celebrating or just craving something extraordinary, Camellia is a must-visit.

3. Factory Kitchen

Handmade pasta being prepared in the open kitchen at Factory Kitchen, an Italian restaurant in the Arts District, Los Angeles.

Address: 1300 Factory Pl, Los Angeles, CA 90013
Parking: Valet, Self-Park (Paid) or Street Parking

If you’re in the mood for Italian, Factory Kitchen is a safe bet. It’s a Michelin Bib Gourmand winner, and while some say it’s even better than Bestia (I’m not entirely sold on that), it’s definitely in the same league. The space itself isn’t as striking as some others, but the food more than makes up for it. You can watch the chefs hand-make their pasta in the open kitchen, which adds to the experience. The menu is classic Italian, done right, and it’s perfect for a meal with friends or family when you want guaranteed good food.

4. Bavel

Elegant Mediterranean dishes at Bavel, a bustling restaurant in the Arts District, Los Angeles.

Address: 500 Mateo St, Los Angeles, CA 90013
Parking: Valet or Street Parking

From the same team behind Bestia, Bavel takes Mediterranean cuisine (yes, it’s Mediterranean!) and elevates it to another level. Be warned—it’s always busy, so make your reservations well in advance. If you can, aim for an indoor standard table because the outdoor seating and high tables can get noisy, making it tough to hold a conversation. The food here is pricey, but you’re paying for top-notch quality. Each dish feels like a new adventure, and it’s one of those places you’ll want to come back to again and again.

5. Manuela

Cozy greenhouse-style dining at Manuela, a popular brunch and dinner spot in Los Angeles.

Address: 907 E 3rd St, Los Angeles, CA 90013
Parking: Valet or Street Parking

Manuela is a versatile gem, perfect for brunch or dinner. I love the greenhouse vibes, whether you’re seated indoors or out. The portions tend to be on the smaller side, but the quality is incredible. From seasonal dishes to local ingredients, everything is thoughtfully prepared. It’s a relaxing spot to unwind with friends over brunch or enjoy a cozy dinner, making it a go-to for any time of day.

Exploring the Arts District restaurant scene is always an exciting experience. Whether you’re visiting LA for the first time or are a local looking for new spots to check out, these five restaurants should be at the top of your list. Be sure to reserve your tables in advance, and don’t forget to bring your appetite!
