This post is sponsored by Bungee Girl App. My opinions are as always, my own.
Even though I travel with my fiancé most of the time, he has a regular office job and has to take vacation time when traveling during the week. So do most of my friends. That results to sadly watching amazing deals go by where weekday travel is required.
I always thought making new friends would be a great way to have other people to travel with but where would I find one? Tinder? Uh, no. Bumble? Could be sketchy. Craigslist? No way.
Then I was introduced to the Bungee Girl App.
The Bungee Girl App is for women, made by a seriously bad ass woman, Maxine. It’s a social platform that brings women travelers together in one, safe and easy to use app.
Here’s how it works:
- Create your profile and showcase your travels.
- Take a quick quiz to discover your travel personality (I’m a ‘Globetrotter’!).
- Verify your identity via Facebook for security reasons.
- Start connecting with other women in your city to travel with, or with women that are from your destination!
Isn’t that simple? There’s no ads, no complicated settings and again, so easy to use.
This is my profile:
You may notice that is says I’m from San Francisco. I’m from Los Angeles but currently, there are only select cities from around the world available as options. But that’s ok! You’ll quickly see that everyone selects a city closest to them and specifies their location in the profile.
What I love about the app:
- You get to meet like-minded, travel-loving girls from all over the world!
- Because of the security systems in place (FB verification and selfie verification for messaging), you know you’re not getting cat-fished by some creeper.
- You can use Bungee Girl’s messaging feature to get to know someone without giving away any personal information.
- The Travel Personality makes it easy to identify who you want to message. For example, I’m not a backpacker whatsoever so I wouldn’t approach anyone with that label.
- No ads but still FREE! Yes!

As someone who has a M-F desk job & most of my friends are married and/or have children, most of my travels are solo as well. This is a great concept for an app that fills a gap in trying to find a travel partner; however, why make it girls only? Is there a complimentary male-only or gender-neutral app already? I'm not aware of one if there is.
Hi Sterling! I agree, a lot of my friends also have children so it's difficult to find a travel companion. From my own experience, trying to meet or find friends on dual-gender apps or websites that don't have gender security verification, it tends to be a nightmare. All I receive are suggestive, dating (or worse) types of messages instead of being able to just find friends. I'm sure there's decent and honest people out there, but having to filter through them is a serious pain in the butt. So I think that's why there tends to be apps like Bungee Girl or Hey Vina! where it's female only. I do think there are male only or gender-neutral apps too; I'm just not familiar. If I run into any though, I'll definitely let you know since I would be interested in them too!
I figured that was the case with dual-gender apps. I wonder if we could come up with something to mitigate the lack of gender security & unwanted messages. If you're open to a non-female travel buddy, let me know… might be easy since we're fairly local. 🙂
Yeah definitely! There are some weird people (both male AND female!) out there! 🙂 Yes – I'll definitely reach out if I need a travel buddy!!!
