As I was planning our Portland trip, I scrolled through my personal Instagram to check out what my Portland friends have been up to (if you didn’t know, I lived there for 4 years!) and if there were any interesting restaurants or activities I can try out. Turns out my Portland friends are so reliable and they don’t even know it!
One of my coworkers had a photo of her and her friends with beers in one hand and unique leather crafts in the other, so I had to see what this was all about. On her geotag, it said DIY Bar Portland. Yes! I saw DIY Bar Portland on Buzzfeed’s Bring Me and thought about going a while back. This was the perfect activity for our group; they all love Portland craft beer and not exactly the wine-paint-night type.
What exactly is the DIY Bar Portland?
As the name states, the DIY Bar in Portland is a bar where you can DIY unique things as you enjoy drinks. I’m sure a lot of you have seen the wine and paint night fad and this is similar, just more hipster in my opinion. Most craft projects consists of leather and the biggest difference between paint night and the DIY Bar is that it’s unisex. Yes, a man can attend paint night but if we’re real about it, it’s always 99% women. The DIY Bar Portland is different though; I would say it was comfortably 50/50. It’s a fun place for everyone!

My thoughts on the DIY Bar Portland!
I had so much fun at the DIY Bar. All 6 of us at different craft and creativity levels had a blast! Half the crew were men and they were surprised with how awesome the experience was. If you’re looking for things to do in Portland, this is a fantastic choice! Also, Portland does get rainy quite often so if you need something to do in Portland on a rainy day, the DIY Bar is perfect. It would be a great date night spot, a group outing, a team building session or hey, go alone!
