The past 5 years for New Year’s Eve, I’ve celebrated in Tokyo or Seattle. After living in Los Angeles for 3 years, this was my first time celebrating NYE here so I figured I would do something exciting! The good new is, I went through a lot of potential NYE parties in Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Downtown, Queen Mary in Long Beach, even down towards Disneyland – so if anyone ever wants to party hard in L.A for NYE, you have a plethora of choices! The bad news – it was almost impossible to pick just one.
Alas, I settled on the Prohibition NYE Party at Union Station in Downtown L.A. A roaring 20’s, Great Gatsby-style party at a historical train station? Sign me up.
The event started at 9:00PM-2:00AM but got there around 10:00PM. The floor wasn’t as busy at that time but I was already loving the decoration, music and outfits. It definitely felt like I was back in the 20’s at Gatsby’s marvelous party; champagne, pearls, oysters, cigars and suspenders with bow-ties.
General Admission to the event cost $150 which included admission, oyster bars, cigars, professional photo booth and an open bar. The cost sounds ridiculous until you get there and enjoy all the amenities. Especially if you’re highly tolerant of alcohol, it’s an amazing deal!
The photo booth line was so long (someone told me they were in line for over 1.5 hours!) I decided not to even bother. It looked adorable with all the prohibition deco, though!
Patron was the sole alcohol sponsor of all drinks sans the champagne, so several of the decorations were Patron-inspired. I thought they were adorable!
The countdown was so much fun. The amount of confetti that was blasted throughout the space was insane! Not only was my drink full of confetti, I found silvery confetti in my bedroom a few days after the fact!
Like I said in the beginning, I’ve been out of town the past few New Year’s Eves and had no idea this was the 7th time they’ve thrown this party. If I’m here again at the end of the year, while I would love to give other parties a try, I wouldn’t be opposed to attending this one again. I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a great NYE bash!
I hope you also had an amazing New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day if you celebrate it! I have some resolutions for this year I shared in a previous post, let me know if you have some too!
OH! My favorite thing about the entire party? They served the most delicious grilled cheese sandwiches on the way out! As you can tell below, I enjoyed that very much at 2:30AM 🙂
