Outdoor Dining in Los Angeles 2020

Outdoor dining in Los Angeles - Lawry's Beverly Hills
Lawry’s Prime Rib Beverly Hills | Al Fresco Style

I’ve been finding myself Googling, “outdoor dining in Los Angeles” recently due to the fact that California currently only allows takeout and outdoor dining for restaurants. From my experience, while there are strict regulations for outdoor dining protocols in California, some counties follow it to a t (or even playing it safer) and some counties are extremely lax, almost questionable if they’re following the law (Orange County, I’m looking at you).

Thankfully I live in Los Angeles and everywhere I’ve dined out, they’ve followed the California al fresco laws and often beyond. We’re always more than willing to walk away if it doesn’t look like they’re abiding by the laws (we haven’t done that yet in LA but a couple times in Orange County).

With that said, here are restaurants that are open and offering al fresco dining in the Los Angeles area!

Lawry’s Prime Rib | Beverly Hills

If you know me or have followed me for a while, you know I love dining at Lawry’s. I’ve been extremely impressed with their adaptability to these uncertain times, so it wasn’t surprising when they came up with a beautiful al fresco style dining setting. Never been? Here’s a post more about Lawry’s Prime Rib Beverly Hills.

Perch | Downtown

When I think of outdoor dining in Los Angeles, I quickly think of Perch in downtown LA. They have the most beautiful rooftop dining and was thrilled to see they were open! Just make sure that you make reservations in advance as they go quickly. During the day in summer months, it could get pretty toasty so dress lightly and bring a hat! Evenings though? Just stunning.

Bavel | Downtown

If you follow me on Instagram, you know I’ve recently gushed over my visits to Bavel and Bestia. Bavel serves up Middle Eastern cuisine and is a sister restaurant of the famous Bestia (below). Thankfully they have quite a bit of outdoor seating and I felt very distanced from others. If you’re not up for outdoor dining, they’re also doing takeout!

Bestia | Downtown

As I said above, Bestia is famous for their Italian cuisine. In normal circumstances (read: not during COVID), reservations need to be made at least 3 months in advance (sometimes 6+!) and to be honest, even during these times it’s still hard to get reservations! I basically got lucky with a spot that opened up and quickly grabbed it. They have some outdoor seating in additional to a new parking area turned dining area. If you can, ask for the patio area!

The Front Yard | North Hollywood

The Front Yard is known for their brunch and yes, they have plenty of out door seating! Located in Studio City/North Hollywood, this charming spot requires reservations (for now).

Nobu | Malibu

Who hasn’t heard of Nobu, amirite? The Nobu Malibu location has plenty of outdoor seating with gorgeous views. Feeling fancy? Make a reservation and go!

The Rose | Venice Beach

The Rose Venice is in the heart of Venice and has a charming open air patio that they’re able to use as al fresco style dining! Enjoy a menu filled with American classics at this iconic Venice restaurant.

I was recently lucky enough to visit the San Pedro Fish Market (thank you for hosting me, @spfishgrille!) and I loved it! If you love seafood, you have to give them a try. Right on the beach with plenty of social distancing and beautiful, beach views for days!

Bar Restaurant | Silverlake

Silverlake’s favorite Bar Restaurant is now providing seating al fresco style both on their patio and expanded into their parking lot (due to this, it’s valet parking only for now). As their website describes themselves, they’re a, ‘european-influenced, seasonal eatery with a classic French flare and a modern vibe’. Very Silverlake, if you ask me!

Redbird | Downtown

Redbird is one of my favorite spots in LA in general but especially for outdoor dining. They have ample amount of outdoor dining (a rarity downtown!). Delicious food, great service, fun cocktails, all whilst socially distancing. Perfect for date night!

Birdie G’s | Santa Monica

Birdie G’s serves up delicious Californian cuisine out in Santa Monica. They have tons of spaced out, outdoor seating for you to enjoy!

Pin for later!
