One of the first things I did after landing in London was head straight to Platform 9 3/4 at Kings Cross Station. I’m a huge Harry Potter fan and knew I needed a picture here, however long the wait is!
Before we get started, make sure you check out my other posts from this Europe trip, my Instagram, and TikTok!
Where is Platform 9 3/4 located in London?
Platform 9 3/4 is located inside Kings Cross Station in London. The address is London N1 9AP, United Kingdom.
What are the Platform 9 3/4 hours?
Platform 9 3/4 and the shop is open Monday through Saturday, 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM, and Sunday, 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
How Long Was The Line?
We arrived at around 9 AM, about an hour after it had opened. The line looked like this (see picture below), and we waited in line for about 45 minutes. I was so excited to be there, and the line moved fairly quickly, so I didn’t mind waiting, of course. However, about 10 people in front of us continued to leave the line, which I understand as well!
The Experience
Once you get to the front, you get to choose your house scarf and a wand. A staff member will put it on for you and suggest a few poses! Once you’re ready, the staff will flip the scarf, and the professional photographer will snap away! You’re allowed some time to have someone take photos with your own phone as well. If you’re with someone, you can also do couples or group photos with some fun poses!
Once you’re done, you go into the shop where you can buy the professional photos. In comparison to American prices, I thought the £15 price tag was CHEAP! We got 3 physical photos and all the digital copies. In my opinion, it was absolutely worth it!
The Platform 9 3/4 Shop
Another feature of visiting Kings Cross station is the shop! Considering it’s a shop inside a train station, it’s a considerable size with a huge selection of Harry Potter merchandise. I personally thought there was more of a selection than Universal Studios Hollywood, or perhaps just different things.
Even if you’re not planning on purchasing anything, it’s worth walking through for all the magical decor!
