Review of The Saguaro Palm Springs, California

The Saguaro Palm Springs Hotel Review

I’m banking on the fact that you’ve seen a post of The Saguaro Palm Springs on your Instagram feed. Was I right? I thought so. The Saguaro Palm Springs in the past few years has become one of the most popular places to stay in the SoCal area but most importantly, to photograph. The ridiculously bright colors make for the perfect photo, practically any place you photograph at the Saguaro! So I’m excited to share my (very colorful!) Saguaro Palm Springs review with you.

I’ve personally stayed at the Saguaro Palm Springs a couple of times but never written up a “Checking In” series for it. Since my brother and I stayed there last month, I thought it would be a great opportunity to share what staying at The Saguaro Palm Springs is really like, not just pretty wall photos.

Location

The Saguaro Palm Springs is located only a couple of miles from downtown Palm Springs. While it’s not exactly walking distance to the city’s busier areas, you can take the complimentary Palm Springs trolley or rent their bikes to get downtown. Of course, you can also drive, since there’s plenty of parking, or grab a quick Uber ride.

Rooms at the Saguaro Palm Springs

The guest rooms at the Saguaro Palm Springs are, in three words, basic but colorful. People expect a lot more from the guest rooms after seeing how aesthetically pleasing the exteriors and decorations are, but I found “basic but colorful” to be true. Since I knew that the Saguaro Palm Springs used to be a different property (which wasn’t as nice until they took over), my expectations were low.

I think the rooms are a little dated but most definitely colorful, clean, and comfortable. The prices aren’t too bad off-season or during the week, so the basic nature of the stay doesn’t seem like a gyp.

Dining at the Saguaro

El Jefe: El Jefe is inside the Saguaro and is their main and most popular dining option. It’s open to both the public and to hotel guests. Taco Tuesday brings a long wait of hotel guests and locals alike to snag a table, but totally worth it! Yes, their tacos are delicious but can we take a moment to talk about the El Jefe’s Nachos? I’m quite picky when it comes to nachos and El Jefe’s rank high (if not highest) on my list. Whenever I’m in Palm Springs, I make it a priority to grab the nachos at the Saguaro! They also have a full bar with delicious margaritas, cocktails, and of course tasty non-alcoholic options.

Rocco’s Electric: I’ve only quickly stopped by Rocco’s Electric for coffee and can’t speak for their food but they serve breakfast and brunch. If you’re not into the Mexican cuisine at El Jefe, no problem. Rocco’s has plenty of breakfast and brunch options ranging from Avocado Toast to Pancakes or Granola. But let’s be real, you’ll want to try the Tortas and Chorizo Burritos.

In-Room Dining & Pool Bar: Too busy lounging or splashing around in the Saguaro pool? No problem! They’ll bring food and drinks to you. The in-room dining and pool bar menu is a healthy mix of options from Rocco’s Electric’s and El Jefe’s.

Pool Parties at the Saguaro

It wouldn’t be a Saguaro Palm Springs review without mentioning the pool. It is without a doubt one of the most popular reasons why people are attracted to the hotel, behind the endless photo opportunities, of course! While it’s pool season all year long in Palm Springs, The Saguaro’s “Pool Season” starts in June. There are tons of DJs, pool parties, and cool events that happen during the summer. I’m personally not a huge pool party fan; I went to The Saguaro Palm Springs during Memorial Day Weekend unintentionally and found the pool absolutely packed to the point where you couldn’t see the water in the pool because of all the people! Not your thing? Mine either. When I’ve been there on a normal weekend or a weekday, however, I love that pool. You can even rent a day bed so you don’t have to worry about fighting fora lounge spot. And of course, it’s so convenient when the Pool Bar is open. They serve all sorts of drinks (including several margarita flavors) and food.

That's A LOT of colour. And I would totally love being surrounded by it. Since you're in my instagram feed, I can safely say that you are correct! It reminds me of the 70s a little though, with that lime green room. #FlyAwayFriday

I have driven by The Saguaro many, many times but have not stopped once! I really want to check the hotel since I am crazy about color and am sure I will leave the property with tons of photos. I didn't realize the rooms on the simple side. I should have guessed it since I have seen great deals to stay there (and I am not talking about luxury related deals). #FlyAwayFriday

Getting nachos at El Jefe is definitely on the top of my list next time I go to Palm Springs! The recommendation weighs well coming from a fellow "nachophile". Sub-standard nachos are unacceptable!

Unsurprisingly I love these photos! I love it when places update but still keep a retro, colorful vibe. I've been thinking a lot lately about how the best thing a business can do these days is make themselves Instagrammable – seriously! Even one small aspect that's super photogenic will bring in droves of business. What a funny time we live in. πŸ™‚ Relaxing by that pool looks amazing and I hope to be able to visit here someday! #flyawayfriday -Caity caitypfohl.com

I'm pretty sure I've seen this hotel tagged as one of the most 'instagrammable' hotels to live in! Interesting to finally get to see and read about what it's actually like to stay in it!
