The Angel’s Flight Railway located in downtown Los Angeles is a historic landmark dating back to 1901. If you’re visiting LA, or downtown LA to be specific, this is a must-see and try. On a beautiful day (which usually is in sunny southern California), the 360 views are absolutely stunning going up or down the railway. You can click here to see it in motion!
Here’s what you need to know about Angel’s Flight Railway:
- Location:
- Top station: California Plaza (350 South Grand Avenue)
- Lower station: 351 South Hill Street across Grand Central Market
- Price: $1.00 each way or $0.50 with a Tap Card
- Hours: 365 days a year from 7:00 AM – 10:00 PM

Isn’t it absolutely stunning and charming? The wait time wasn’t bad at all as they have 2 cars that alternate every few minutes. It rattles a lot, and very loudly on the way down (I’ve only gone down and have yet to make the trip up!) but what did I expect for such an old system? It’s short and sweet, but for $1, it’s easy to support this historic landmark! Even though I’m a local in downtown LA, I’ll be sure to take this if I ever need to go up or down. There’s a staircase parallel to the railway and of course, just regular streets surrounding it but what’s the fun in that? It’s so much better to just take this fun ride.
What to do in that area:
