I’ve divided the best travel bags between carry-on luggage, checked luggage, and weekender or duffel bags below. For the most honest reader experience, I’ve only listed the best travel bags that I have either personally used, or at minimum the brands of the luggage companies I’ve purchased in the past.

Carry-On Luggage
Carry-on luggage is so important to me because for most trips, I will pack up to 1 week’s worth of stuff in a carry-on. I’m that person who refuses to check bags in when I can avoid it, so I’m extremely picky about finding the best carry-on luggage.
My personal favorite is a classic, black, soft-case carry-on and my Samsonite one is an absolute go-to. I enjoy having all the zippers, multiple pockets, and flexibility. However, if you prefer hard-case carry-on luggage or don’t mind not having accessible pockets, you can get much more aesthetically pleasing ones!

Weekender Bags
Not only are weekender bags perfect for weekend trips, they’re a wonderful addition to slide on top of carry-on luggage to expand your capacity!
Again, weekender bags are something I’m also picky about due to all the quick trips I take on a regular basis. I swear I’ve tried over 20 weekender bags and my current go to is the CalPak Luka Duffel Bag. It truly is fulfilling all my needs and travel dreams right now!

Checked Luggage
To be honest, I’m not too picky about checked luggage other than that I want it to survive all the tossing that happens to checked luggage. Yes, as a former airline employee, I can confirm your bags will get tossed around aggressively (even more aggressively within closed doors).
With that said, quality at least is important to me, which is why I personally stick to Samosonite luggage. My parents swear by Tumi since they’re basically indestructible but keep in mind they’re also extremely pricey!
